Weekend Sequins

This weekend was rather exciting as I can officially say that I am a graduate student! I had my first day of class this Friday and am happy to say have enjoyed the whole day spent on Saturday reading and doing my assignments. I can’t wait to continue on in this adventure. Graduate school is huge and always has been a dream. I am going to get my M.A in Marriage & Family Therapy. Did you go to graduate school? If so…please leave comments on your experiences and/or tips! Would love to hear them!

This outfit was what I wore for a lunch meeting this weekend. I purchased this sequin sleeve blazer a month or so ago and was very excited to wear it. It’s such a statement piece that I kept the rest of my outfit very simple.

All that glitters…

HAPPY FRIDAY!

There is something about sequins that just make me feel instantly better. For a meeting (fashion-based), I wore this gold sequined jacket that I had bought nearly three years ago. I kept the rest of my outfit very simple; total black. I did add some red lipstick to give my look a little va-va-voom. I also put my hair in a knot-bun, something I’m not usually one to sport. I’m all curls or straight hair, so testing new ways to “update” my hair is always fun!

Fashion Remix: 1 shoe; 3 ways.

Hello my loves! From now on when I wear an item more than 3 times I will be doing a poll to find out which look is your favorite based on that one item. This time I wore these ShoeMint Blush Suede “Edith” platform three times. Each look was unique with kept with the color scheme; blush tones. For the same shoe, that’s not sold out online, these Steve Madden “Viktoree” are available.

Shoes, OMG, Shoes: Sole Society

I don’t know about you, but I am a shoe fanatic. When I learned I was going to be a Sole Society fashion insider for the month of January…I freaked out. I love their products and for a shoe club, their shoes are really…impeccable. I’ve previewed other shoe clubs & personally wasn’t impressed. As a fashion blogger, I want my shoes to look like they cost more than I paid, who doesn’t? Anyhow, Sole Societys quality & selection is unbeatable…and I’m not just saying that, I mean it. I would definitely go ahead & sign up (it’s free) & check out what they have to offer. It’s never wrong to look, plus, you can preview my fellow TwoPointOhLA bloggers who are also Fashion Insiders this month :). Thank you to Sole Society & Kelsi Smith for this amazing opportunity. I feel so blessed.

The concept of the shoot was to take one shoes & wear it four different ways. I chose the “Savannah” bootie because it was a shoe I would typically never wear. Peep-toe & past ankle booties are so scary to me, because they’re different from my norm. Thanks to this opportunity I challenged myself & created four unique looks with a shoe I would typically not wear. Let me say…I ended up falling for the shoes. I loved the challenge & I love how comfortable & chic the booties were.

My concept for the shoot was simple. Four seasons…in Los Angeles. Sadly, Los Angeles bears no brutal winters, but you’ll see my point shortly. Here are the images:

The shoe I chose was theSavannahbootie in tan :). Will discuss outfits from Top left to right bottom:

1. WINTER look: Navy cable knit sweater from Forever 21, White skinny jeans from ANGL, “Savannah” booties from Sole Society.

2. SPRING look: White button down from Forever 21, Hot pink blazer from Zara, Light wash skinny jeans from Blush Boutique, Necklace from Kapali Carsi in Istanbul, Turkey, “Savannah” booties from Sole Society.

3. SUMMER look: Lace top & orange skirt from Zara, Pearls from Kenneth Jay Lane, Snakeskin purse from Chanel, “Savannah” booties from Sole Society.

4. FALL look: Wine dress from In Love with Fashion, Nude handbag from Chanel, Necklace & Belt from Forever 21, “Savannah” booties from Sole Society.

Then we did a shoot where every blogger does something “blogger” like. Originally we were going to use to my iPad, but I’m too goofy to be so serious so I suggest jumping. I must say, it turned out pretty cute! Also, the shoes I’m wearing below are possibly my favorite.

On Me: Shirt borrowed from Chanelle from The Penelope Times, Skirt from Blush Boutique, “Sasha” heels from Sole Society.

Be sure to check out Sole Society to see the whole feature & their amazing shoes 🙂

Which outfit did you like best? Let me know 🙂

Golden Girl

One of my favorite trends, aside from seventies flare, is school girl chic. Any excuse to sport knee highs and mary-jane pumps gives me butterflies. This weekend I was able to put these mary-jane pumps I had bought months ago to good use. They finally made their début and I must say, I fell more in love with them.

Since metallic is also coming back for Fall, I decided to take the school girl trend up a notch, with some metallic accents. This metallic gold skirt caught my eye, and at first I questioned it, but I ultimately decided to take the plunge and buy something that would ultimately be one of the most eye-catching pieces I own.

I paired my metallic pleated skirt with a sheer long-sleeve blouse that had gorgeous ruffle accents on the front, giving my look the femininity it needed. My necklace which was part of the black and gold color palette I had going, was the last touch. I threw on a blazer to keep the school girl aspect of the look and to balance out the skirt. A blazer instantly polished my look, regardless of the multiple trends associated with the total look.

Look of The Week: Gucci Colors

I love window-shopping, whether it’s physically walking through a mall or outdoor shopping center, or via the internet. It’s always fun to see what’s out there and window-shopping is truly an inspiring experience. This post is dedicated to one runway palette I am currently really enjoying, Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2011. From tangerine, royal purple to emerald green, this season, Gucci really nailed it.

The color palette is rich, and very bold. I love the neutralization of these bold, juicy colors with the metallic accessories. Below is an outfit I basically would dream to have. I love the colors, and the femininity of it. As much as I love pants, I feel color-blocking with dresses is easier, at least for me. The colors are still bold and bright, but slightly muted so it’s more wearable but still is true to the trend.
